July is eye health month and eye health is interestingly one of the primary health concerns of adults as we age. The question of the month is: What are the best eye health nutrients and which SevenPoint2 product features some of those specific ingredients and how much?
Lutein and Zeaxanthin are powerful antioxidants, and lutein is widely known as the primary nutrient for protecting ocular (eye) function. Lutein and Zeaxanthin may prevent cellular damage in these conditions by quenching singlet oxygen or neutralizing photosensitizers (pro-oxidants). In simpler terms they prevent the degeneration of the eye by protecting the cells from “bad guys”.
Lutein and Zeaxanthin inhibit lipid peroxidation, and lipid peroxidation (rusted fats) are a likely factor in the cause of both retinal and cardiovascular health challenges . 7.2 Greens are a great source of Lutein and Zeaxanthin because the nutrients are found in abundance in spinach, kale and green grasses. All concentrated materials that are the very make-up of 7.2 Greens and Greens Caps. Conservatively speaking
In the case of skin health, lutein, Zeaxanthin, and other carotenoids appear to be depleted in the skin under conditions of prolonged UV light expo- sure. Skin exposure to UV rays generates reactive oxygen species, inflammation in skin cells. Intake of dietary antioxidants, including lutein and Zeaxanthin, reduces this inflammatory response. The inflammatory reduction proven by Recovery with HydroFX® can be a powerful combination with the 7.2 Greens!
Here is the milligram equivalent math. Conservatively speaking, raw greens such as Spinach have 6 milligrams of Lutein and 4 milligrams of Zeaxanthin per cup and Kale has nearly double that amount per cup! That would be considered a “one to one ratio” of concentration of the greens. 7.2 greens are concentrated juice, leaf and grass powder, many more times that the “one to one ratio” of the kale and spinach leaves resting in a cup. Conservatively speaking we would have more than Lutein and Zeaxanthin than a non-concentrated leaf. Here is my point. Consumers pay a lot of money for Centrum Silver with Lutein, a popular multivitamin (synthetic mind you!) available in drug stores. The sad reality is that the product has ZERO Zeaxanthin in it and Lutein is best ingested with Zeaxanthin. Even more a travesty is that they only have 250 Micrograms of Lutein per dose. The American Optometric Association recommends 10 mg of Lutein and 2 mg of Zeaxanthin a day as both are needed for absorption of each other . Centrum Silver has 250 mcg which is 40 times lower than the recommended amount and even worse considering they have zero Zeaxanthin in the product!!
7.2 Greens are a whole food concentrate of raw super-greens and we are not required to place isolated ingredients of which and RDA (recommended daily allowance) on our label such as Lutein and Zeaxanthin. Let’s do the math together….with nearly 9 grams (9,000 milligrams) of concentrated greens in one dose of 7.2 Greens powder and the 7.2 Greens capsules even more concentrated, it is a safe estimate that 10 milligrams of Lutein and 2 milligrams of Zeaxanthin exist in that dose! Now THAT’s eye health made simple!
